Woodruff: sloughs and quieter creek arms; avoid main-channel barge/generation seams in a small boat. Millers: backwater sloughs (Alligator, Houseboat, etc.) over main-river peak generation.
Boat
Woodruff: Cooter’s Pond / Montgomery–Prattville corridor ramps (confirm OA / Corps live). Millers: Selma-to-Camden public ramps + Roland Cooper State Park corridor — confirm fees/status live. Upper river toward Coosa–Tallapoosa junction remains classic spot water when flow is present (seasonal journalism — verify access live).

Late summer / early fall on a run-of-river Alabama River chain. Spotted / Alabama bass remain the current-oriented story on the main river; largemouth hold sloughs, flooded creeks, and wood. Not a spawn window. Fall shad pushes deepen as nights cool over the next 1–3 weeks.
