Early October on a lower Shore park pond north of Salisbury is a classic fall transition. Largemouth are sliding from late-summer deeper holds toward shallower bait as nights cool into the 30s and 40s.
Afternoon, slide toward any sun-warmed pocket near the access and pitch a soft creature into shade under overhanging brush. The near-calm sun is the day to ease around the shoreline slowly, stopping at every timber cluster and legal dock shadow.
Yellow perch & panfish. Cool nights pull perch and bluegill tighter to brush and the first drop.
Weekday traffic — lighter than the weekend. Fish early, give ramps and swim areas room.
Fixed Natural / small-impoundment water — no generation table. Check access rules and level notes with the managing agency before you go.

Start at the Leonard’s Mill Park pond access as posted by Wicomico County and walk the nearest riprap, grass, or wood edge you can reach without crossing private docks.
Launch from the public access at Leonards Mill Pond and hug the protected shoreline as soon as you clear the ramp throat or carry-. The gusts make the open middle a poor first choice for a light kayak — work the lee of points and backed-in pockets until mid-morning.
Trailering boats use the same public access: Leonard’s Mill Park pond access as posted by Wicomico County. Confirm local length and motor rules on the posting at the ramp before you drop. Idle along the windward bank and keep casts short to wood and rock; save long runs across open water or when the breeze dies.
