Beaver Dam Lake walleye are in their fall feeding period. As the water cools, they move toward weed edges, rocky areas and wind-blown shorelines to feed on baitfish, especially at dawn, dusk and on windy days.
As the water cools, they move toward weed edges, rocky areas and wind-blown shorelines to feed on baitfish, especially at dawn, dusk and on windy days. What's on the menu: yellow perch, shiners, young crappie and other small baitfish.
Black crappie · white crappie. A 2021 Wisconsin DNR survey found abundant crappie; small jigs and minnows near cover catch them in fall.
Weekday traffic — lighter than the weekend. Fish early, give ramps and swim areas room.
Fixed Dam-controlled water. No shared generation/level feed this cycle — check the agency page the morning you fish; releases and pool levels change daily. Stay outside buoyed restricted zones.

Beaver Dam Lake has several public parks with shore access. Derge County Park and the Fish Camp landing are good places to start, and the Edgewater, Waterworks and Tahoe Park landings also offer public access near the water. Pick the spot that puts the day's wind in your face, since that's where baitfish and walleye gather.
Launch at Derge County Park, the Fish Camp landing or a city landing near your area of the lake. Morning are the calmest windows. Work weed edges with a jig and minnow, or troll a shallow crankbait slowly along the shoreline in low light.
Launch at Derge County Park, the Fish Camp landing or one of the other public ramps. Beaver Dam Lake is shallow throughout, so run carefully, trim up and watch for weeds and shallow spots, especially away from the main basin.
Shallow minnow bait cast over weed flats at dusk. Slip bobber with a leech or minnow on calm evenings. Surface action is limited, so focus lower in the water.
Lipless rattle bait ripped through shallow weeds. Shallow-running crankbait trolled along breaks after dark. Swimbait on a light jighead along weed edges.
Jig tipped with a minnow along the edges of shallow weeds and rock. Live-bait rig with a fathead minnow or nightcrawler. Small jig under a slip bobber for crappie near cover.
